The parents of the children attending the pre-school in the premises of the IPSA (International Primary School Almere) can all attest how extraordinary the teachers have been in terms of educating, caring and nurturing our children, but we also understand the financial reasons behind this business decision (less pupils in the waiting list + a high rent), which is why we proposed the current provider, Partou, to consider these alternatives before closing the pre-school:
Starting from September, opening the pre-school with 8 kids per 1 teacher (respecting thus the ratio for this specific age group) with a waiting list for additional applications. The 2nd teacher would be reintroduced once the desired number of students was reached. In September we have 8 children; some want to stay for an extended period of time;
Parent participation: one parent would be present at the location every day in order to assist the teacher whenever needed;
A (more aggressive) marketing campaign: almost nobody knows the pre-school exists. At the Almere Gemeente website, as an example, there is no mention of this pre-school at all. We recommended an open day every quarter, marketed across expat groups and forums, informing everyone about the school and its benefits, in order to boost applications. The first open day could be held in July before the expected end of school. The parents were willing to help advertising not only the pre-school but also the open day;
If feasible, opening a BSO at the location in the afternoons to boost profits and somehow compensate for the pre-school lowest months;
Partou believes these suggestions are good, but the rent is still too high. The parents have tried to get a reaction from the Gemeente, but haven't managed to get one yet. We do not ask for subsidies, but the Gemeente has a say in this matter. We are sure that "where there is a will, there is a way".
There are no bilingual pre-schools or centers where English can be taught to children of these ages, so we will keep on looking into all possibilities to keep this facility open.

Ze begrijpen niet dat wij in Eindhoven samen onze stad maken: moslims en niet-moslims.
Het is tijd om luidruchtig duidelijk te maken dat we ons in Eindhoven niet laten verdelen door een handjevol mensen die afgelopen zondag er helaas in slaagden moslimjongeren uit hun tent te lokken met hun racistische getreiter. Als het aan hen ligt komen ze zondag onze mooie wijk Kronehoef weer lastig vallen. Genoeg. Wij belichamen onze tolerante inclusieve stad. Er is hier geen ruimte voor racisme, islamofobie, homofobie en wat voor vorm van ontmenselijking van onze stadsgenoten dan ook.
Artikel 1; het verbod op discriminatie en onze stemmen kunnen niet zomaar terzijde worden geschoven met het excuus van 'vrijheid van meningsuiting' en demonstratierecht. Mensenrechten en vrijheid van meningsuiting moeten in evenwicht zijn. Onze grens is bereikt. Geen haat in onze stad.

They do not understand that we make our city Eindhoven together: Muslims and non-Muslims. It is time to make it very clear that in Eindhoven we are not going to be divided by a handful of people who unfortunately succeeded in luring Muslim youth out of their tents with their racist teasings last Sunday. De petitie Kattenburgerstraat schoon en veilig van de actiegroep Kattenburgerstraat schoon en veilig is vanaf vandaag ook op het internet te ondertekenen.
Heeft u de papieren versie al ondertekend? Hartelijk dank maar dan hoeft u online niet meer te tekenen.
Wel is het natuurlijk fijn als u andere mensen in uw omgeving nog op de petitie kunt wijzen.
Er is niet veel tijd. De planning voor verkeer en ontwikkeling van de stad gaan door. Dus hoe luider, in de vorm van veel handtekeningen bijvoorbeeld, en sneller we een signaal kunnen af geven aan de wethouder Verkeer & Vervoer, Water en Luchtkwaliteit Sharon Dijksma, hoe beter.
NLroei roept tegen doofpotten te zijn en aandacht te schenken aan minderheden, maar ondertussen houden ze zich wel openlijk bezig met censuur van verontwaardigde en kritische lezers en het publiceren van smakeloze artikelen..
Om dit een halt toe te roepen start ik een petitie waarmee leden van de roeigemeenschap duidelijk kunnen maken aan NLroei dat dit gedrag niet in lijn staat met wat zij pretenderen te zijn en de doelen welke zij nastreven.
Hiermee wordt hopelijk voor de redactie duidelijk dat zij hun koers moeten bijstellen en zich moeten houden aan eigen gestelde normen en waarden, en de roeigemeenschap moeten voorzien van informatie en artikelen die het door hen gestelde doelen en de roeigemeenschap wel ten goede komen.
