Since Russia’s annexation of Crimea and war in the Donbas in 2014, and now again in 2022, casualties have mounted to tens of thousands, including innocent civilians – women, children, the elderly, the infirm. Ukraine is paying a high price for its democratic and European aspirations.

Ukraine’s heroic resistance is once again proving that it also belongs in Europe historically, culturally and politically.
The leaders of Slovakia, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Bulgaria, Czech, Republic and Hungary have already voiced their support for this approach.
This affirmation is however not shared by the Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, who expressed scepticism regarding Ukraine’s European prospects in the near future.
