Stop the budget cuts at the Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences (FMG)
The FMG at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) has a budget deficit of €4,5 million. A part of this deficit has to be cut directly from the study programmes' budgets. These budget cuts will be detrimental to the quality of our education and include cutting teaching hours and support staff.

establish that:
That the UvA regards the quality of our education as less important than efficiency and output. The logic of markets has turned the university into a degree factory.
A decrease in funding per student and mismanagement has led to the current budget deficit.
Cutting budgets of public institutions is a political choice and it needs to stop, immediately.
and request
We demand
- the Dean to stop the budget cuts at the FMG,
- academic freedom for students and staff,
- no micromanagement,
- decision making bottom-up, not top-down and
- space for diversity and decolonization.
