Make Den Haag Foxtail free

22 signatures

Why remove them:

  • invasive species
  • dangerous barbs that embed themselves in our dogs and cats and “burrow”
  • streets look unmaintained
  • ecosystem disruption ( crowd out native plants)
  • undetectable by x rays in animals
  • Traveling seeds can pierce vital organs internally for animals

Petition

We

owners of dogs and cats and supporters

establish that:

  • In Den Haag there are a lot of foxtails in every neighborhood and these present a real risk for dogs and cats.
  • Foxtails dry up and easily get carried away through wind to end up on pets' fur, in their noses, ears, eyes, or lungs, thus causing injuries and even potential death.
  • A danger that is easily preventable by removing foxtails from public spaces and to have better maintenance of green spaces, sidewalks, and streets, and to preserve nature

and request

  • remove foxtails, a dangerous invasive species which cause injuries in dogs & cats.
  • to monitor the foxtail plants in the future, so they are kept contained and do not spread in the city.
