A collective of university employees and students who are sympathetic to the cause.
establish that:
A marking strike in effect to:
- address systemic overwork and exploitation;
- promote visibility of issues experienced by those on temporary teaching contracts, namely precarity; and
- to petition and demand for implementation of changes/better working conditions for temporary contract teachers.
The demands are:
- Permanent contracts
- Professional development
- Workload transparency
and request
A public and formal commitment from the College van Bestuur to our submitted demands and engagement on the new lecturer policy.
A public and formal commitment from faculty deans and department leadership(s) to improve implementation of the policy
